Celebrating Contemporary Indigenous Fashion at the National Crafts Museum |
The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), in partnership with the India Art Fair's Young Collectors’ Programme, has launched an exhibition titled "Re-imagining A Way Back to Us: Contemporary Indigenous Fashion and Textiles in India."
This showcase is hosted at the National Crafts Museum & Hastkala Academy in New Delhi, specifically within the Innovation Gallery and Textile Gallery II.
Inaugurated by Neelam Shammi Rao, Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles, the exhibition features design labels from various regions, including 2112 Saldon from Ladakh, 7Weaves from Assam, and Boito from Odisha.
Curated by Sunil Sethi for the Textile Gallery and Sreyansi Singh for the Innovation Gallery, the exhibition aims to highlight the evolving language of Indian textiles and bring regional artisans' stories into the spotlight.
According to Sunil Sethi, Chairman of FDCI, the goal is to connect craft with innovation and foster cultural dialogue.
Jaya Asokan, Fair Director of India Art Fair, emphasized the importance of institutional collaboration in celebrating and promoting indigenous fashion.
The exhibition opened on August 1, 2025, and is currently on view at the National Crafts Museum & Hastkala Academy, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
